Sangeet

We look forward to welcoming you to our wedding festivities at our Sangeet, a night of Indian music and dancing! Guests can enjoy choreographed performances, Garba (a Gujarati folk dance with circular, rhythmic steps), and Dandiya Raas (a group dance involving festively-decorated sticks). The steps for Garba-Raas are easy to learn. Check out these video tutorials and join us on the dance floor at the event to learn the steps! All are encouraged to participate, but it’s fun to watch even if you’re not the dancing type!

Suggested attire: Cocktail or formal attire & Indian formalwear.

This is traditionally a colorful event! For those new to Indian attire and looking for guidance, we suggest lehengas, salwar kameez, anarkalis and shararas for women and kurtas, bandis, bandhgalas, Nehru jackets, or sherwanis for men.

The Wedding Day

The Hindu ceremony will begin with Rahul's Baraat, a procession of family and friends that traditionally signified the groom's arrival in the bride's hometown. Guests of the groom will meet at the corner of Market and Illinois at 9:30 to accompany Rahul as he dances his way up to the ArtsGarden for the ceremony and is greeted by Caroline’s family. Guests of the bride will join the dancing in front of Tastings under the ArtsGarden. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of guidance for where to go! Light breakfast will be available for all from 7am to 9am in the London Room of the Conrad.

For guests with mobility challenges, please note that elevators will be available as the Baraat path does include a flight of stairs. If you would prefer to wait inside for the Baraat to come to you, please let us know and we’ll arrange a spot for you to view Caroline’s parents’ greeting.

The ceremony will be followed by lunch.

The Christian ceremony will be held at 4pm at Trinity Episcopal Church. Caroline grew up attending chapel at Trinity during elementary and middle school, making this a special place to celebrate the start of her and Rahul's marriage. The reception will follow at the Indianapolis Museum of Arts at Newfields.

Transportation will be available from the Conrad to Trinity, to the reception, and back to the Conrad at the end of the evening. Please meet in the Conrad lobby at 3:25pm if you would like to take a coach to Trinity.

Suggested attire: Black tie optional or Indian formalwear

Some guests may choose to change between events, but you are most welcome to wear either western or Indian attire to both events.

For those new to Indian attire and looking for guidance, we suggest lehengas, salwar kameez, anarkalis and shararas for women and kurtas, bandis, bandhgalas, Nehru jackets, or sherwanis for men.
